Fantastic! This is the perfect word to define this new album. Taking as reference some of the black metal patterns they totally redifine the style adding a bunch of prog-circus melodies, enriching the music until they create this wonder. An album that needs to be carefully listened to extract all of its essence. Don´t you miss the video either, simply astonishing!

Beastmilk - Use Your Deluge EP (2012)

1.- Void Mother
2.- Children Of The Atom Bomb
3.- Forever Animal
4.- Red Majesty

Wonderful EP of these finnish guys. Mat McNerney, the mind behind bands as Dodheimsgard, Code, Void or Hexvessel, offers to us a very remarcable EP of dark post-punk, highly influenced by bands as Misfits, Joy Division, Danzig or even Dead Kennedys. Unexpected surprise. Must listen it!

713avo Amor - A Veces El Dolor (1993)

1.- A veces el dolor
2.- (Te escribo desde esta) botellita de cielo
3.- Cielo bajo tierra

This is one of those bands that never achieved the success that they deserve. They were in the underground, and they still there. Because they are far from mainstream and far from the sweet melodies of the comercial music. This band probably has the most acid, bitterest and surrealistic lyrics that I´ve ever heard.  Add to this a crazy noise rock and post punk that could remember bands like Fugazi or Slint and you´ll have "713th Love". Sometimes the pain...

Muknal - Muknal (2012) EP

1.- Cruciation 6:28
2.- Rotten Genesis 6:10
3.- Eidolon 4:41

Outstanding and very short EP from these extrem guys. It sounds old school, chaotic, dark, lysergic and dirty. Muknal drinks directly from the sound of Incantation, Teitanblood, and that kind of rotten stuff. If you like this kind of bands you will enjoy this album as a possessed. Highly recommended!

Young And In The Way - V.Eternal Depression (2011)EP

1. Descending the White Mountain
2. Times Are Cold
3. The Great Blue Norther
4. Oceans of Eternal Depression
5. The Gathering

Atmospheric and blackened, very blackened hardcore, full of bad vibes, intensity, and rage. When they become slow and atmospherics they remind me a little to Corrupted, other times they become faster and its sound it´s closer to the black metal feelings. Anyway, you must listen it!

King Crimson is one of those bands that doesn´t need introduction. With more than 40 years creating music and countless albums, this is the band that has been able to achieve the succes and the respect of all kind of musicians and fans of metal, rock, jazz, etc. All of this leading by its brain, Mr.Robert Fripp, the perfect experimenter. Because this is of what this album goes, of experimentation and evolution in music. Here there are no boundaries nor limits, just what Mr.Fripp is capable to imagine. This is not an easy listening album, King Crimson never was. This is just another step forward in its music. A little-known gem inside its discography. Enjoy these geniuses!

Unfairly unknown russian band from the 90´s, wich played a technical thrash metal with complex and intricate guitar riffs, surely will delight the fans of bands like Coroner, Deathrow, Watchtower and the current heirs of that kind of sounds, Vektor. This is the reissue of 2007. An uknown jewel of technical thrash metal.

3.- Corryvreckan 12:08
4.- On The Wind 9:31
5.- Running In Circles 9:44

Monumental new album of Ancestors. The perfect culmination to its career so far. This "In Dreams And Time" is more progressive and epic than ever, and displays some of their influences widely, Pink Floyd would be a good example this. From the cover art untill the last second of the magnificent "First Light" we are in front of an outstanding piece of music, that surely will be between the best albums of this 2012. Enjoy it!

Kadavar - Kadavar (2012)

1 All Our Thoughts
2. Black Sun
3 Forgotten Past
4 Goddess Of Dawn
5 Creature of the Demon
6 Purple Sage

In spite of its questionable vintage look, they are a current band! And what a band! they now how to sound like 70´s, and they do it more than well. Rock, some of traditional doom and psychedelia, following the stream of bands like Graveyard or Witchcraft with the best quality possible. A safe bet if you like that kind of delights. Enjoy it!

The best cover art of this year so far. Fantastic as the album as well. It´s been a long time since they started playing black metal. They have evolved until their current sound, wich is a mix of progressive, avant-garde and some of that black metal of the beginning. Crazy work with a lot of changes and countless shades. This is the kind of albums that needs more than three or four listenings to get into it, but it´s worth to try it.

Zeppheroin - The Atrocity Exhibition (2011)

1.- Day of nine dogs
2.- Life is pain
3.- Stoned angel
4.- Lenon mantra
5.- Junkyard god
6.- Neon gunshot
7.- The overloaded man
8.- Retro jesus
9.- Dead inside

Tony Maim, the man behind Black Insect Laughter blog, is also behind this record:
"From a template of Punk, the sonic sensibilities of Post-rock, a smattering of Electronica and an unhealthy obsession with distorted guitars, Zeppheroin have produced an album with a disregard for modern production techniques, going for the mind melting “Raw Power” needle-in-the-red style that has distressed so many lovers of sterile digital music. With a cleanish singing/shouting style that delivers the themed lyrics dealing with loss, religion, self awareness and governments in a sneer of despair, this 30 minute album delivers a sonic assault on the world we live in."

2.-Pile Of Severed Heads
3.-Grengus
4.-Drowned In Gold
5-.Waste For Ghouls
6.-Awaken Horror Of Tuul
7.-Brought Back
8.-To Ride The Leviathan

Here it is! the brand new album of these guys from Bilbo, and one of the most anticipated of this year. As it was expected they doesn´t disappoint, they have made again a colossal work, following his particular point of view of what heavy music is. The album sounds fat, powerful and with an outstanding production. Its distinctive sound is the house brand. Enormous!

It means, very good riff and solo guitars, fantastic vocals (a couple of songs are sung by his drummer) and the gorgeous southern feelin the wrap all the album. Also there is some new ingredients, as the funky song "everyone´s going fishing", and with some other elements that enrich the music. Highly recommended, again.

I think the we can see this band and this album as the perfect mix of the trully post-hardcore sound, some of metal, and noise rock. In fact one of the best albums that I´ve heard with that kind of ingredients. His music is intense, furious, contundent and direct. A good example of this, is the brutal "high octane climate changer", mind blowing! Plus a social and political lyrics and of course the awesome cover art. Highly recommended!

John Zorn - Mount Analogue (2012)

1.- Mount Analogue (Feat. Cyro Baptista, Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, Tim Keiper, Brian Marsella & Kenny Wollesen) 38:21

This is performed by Cyro Baptista's Banquet of the Spirits quartet: Shanir Blumenkranz, Tim Keiper, and Brian Marsella, with Kenny Wollesen on vibes and chimes. This work is close to the Film Works series. Yeah! One of the most anticipated albums for this 2012 is already here. And I have to say that at first listening it sounds a little bit..."dark wave"? Listening songs as "ode to sad disco", "harborview hospital" or "gray goes black" it looks like if you were listening Peter Murphy, or bands as Trembling Blue Stars. This is not bad, because the voice of mr.Lanegan still being here. His immense voice and highlights as "st louis elegy", "phantasmagoria blues" or "deep black vanishing train" make this album, once again, a jewel, and surely, from now on, one of the best albums of this year. I let you proudly with Mark Lanegan and his band.

11.The Homing Beacon

The guitar hero known as Buckethead, introduces to us a diferent work. This is not the typical guitar-virtuoso album. Obviously, behind the guitars, there is an outstanding work, but I feel this work much more experimental than another thing. Quite and atmospheric in general, combinig acoustic with electric guitars. Nice surprise.

A kind of mix between the classics of the genre, Venom, Slayer, Sodom, the later Darkthrone... As many times I said, although it is nothing new, it stills being worthy. Enjoy it.

1.- Purging Tongues 15:11

Apocalyptic new EP from one of the best bands of the underground. Dirty production, twisted music, and sermons that announce the end of the world. Certainly this is not for everyone. Awesome cover art by the way, and very good song. Teitanblood does not disappoint.
