There are a lot of albums that I have to listen yet, but this a good example of what is the best of 2010 for me.

Jimi Hendrix was once asked: "what is it like being the greatest living guitarist?" and he looked up and said "I don´t know, ask Rory Gallagher that question sir". One of the best guitar players ever, unfairly forgotten. Here is my little tribute to him and his music. I love his wild style and the way he sang and play rock. The show was recorded on 7th march ´75, in the Teatro Monumental, in Madrid. The video and sound is very good.

Enormous epic doom from Chile.  If his Ep "the cult of disease"  was a very good work, wait to hear this one. Crushing guitars, well builded songs, the voices very much in keeping with that kind of music and a perfect production. One of the bests albums of the year. This is epic. Muy grande!

24 years after their first album the underground legends of thrash are back. Listening this album it seems as if time had not passed for them. Keeping the rage, the feeling and the strengh of the beginnings, with a new female vocalist, the band offers once again an other work of sublime thrash metal. Old school!

This the 21st part of the filmworks series, that Mr. Zorn started in 1997. Two different parts, probably Belle De Nature (an erotic short film) is one of the most inspired and brilliant soundtrack of the whole series, with highlighting amazing moments such "orties cuisantes" where Marc Ribot give us an astonishing guitar solo of an impressive deepness and beauty. The second part is the soundtrack for the documentary about the dutch museum´s restoration, composed for harpischord, vibraphone, piano and percussion. A delightful work.

Take the darkest old Fear Factory times, something of Meshuggah´s sound and add an electronic-apocalyptic atmospheres... the spawn that you´ll obtain is this powerful album. Perfectly executed, and well combinated all the styles that are mixed here. Becareful, it really hooks you!

 Think about Sleep, Electric Wizard, mix them with Kyuss, and then add a saxophone... Progressive doom-stoner as a result!. The sound of the saxo fits perfectly with that kind of music, and give to it and original touch that becomes a breath of fresh air. Really nice surprise from Finland. Highly recommended.

Do you know when you listen an album, and doesn´t mean much at first time, then it get lost and keep forgotten for a while? Then a while after you recover and listen again the album and everything changes. And what a change! This is pure magic. Robert Machin and Ian Glover, the brains of the creature, are surrounded by an impressive collection of collaborators: Mike Patton (Faith No More), Will Oldham (Palace Brothers), Jason Pierce (Spiritualized), Righard Hawley and Gibby haynes (Butthole Surfers), Rosa Agostino (a.k.a Red Ghost), and of course Mark Lanegan, the voice who makes that album becomes as brilliant. The whole record is sublime, but it´s worth to point some of the highlights: All the way down, You will miss me when I burn, Some misunderstanding, Shadows fall... Once again, music for the soul.

I lost The track of these guys years ago, since the SUIZID album. I read something about the later era, which misdirected their path to an experimental rock/metal sounds. This ep probably not make you want to cut your veins, but it stills remains that point of darkness and the band´s own bad vibes, check out 11th hour for example. Apparently an improvement over their last works.

Mark Lanegan (or The Voice) goes on with the third album  together with Isobel Campbell. Following the steps of their past works, the duo combines the powerful and deep voice of Lanegan with the most sweet and smooth voice of Campbell, besides some collaborations like Willy Mason. Of course it is not the best project, and certainly nor the best Lanegan´s album but still remains a good choice. Also we can find a couple of covers of  Townes Van Zandt, "Snake Song" and "No Place To Fall".

His lovely voice and the intimate atmosphere, create the perfect scene to enjoy of an unforgettable experience. Music for the soul!

By the way, the audio is excelent, and the video is old, but very much in keeping with the music.
